Keith BrooksI was born and raised in Boston, Mass. until the age of 13 when I moved to L.A. My dad was a military man-turned-minister so we moved around a lot. I've lived in Boston, Phoenix, L.A., Tucson, Mesa, Colorado Springs, Denver, Seattle, Palos Verde's, Newark, San Francisco, Pacifica, Santa Cruz, Utah, Vegas, New Orleans, and now Sacramento! Although my heart still loves Boston and I bleed red sox red, patriot blue, bruin yellow and Celtic green, I LOVE Sacramento and the people in it!
I went to college at San Diego State on a baseball scholarship then was drafted to play pro ball. After several injuries and a clear understanding that I am not that good, I decided to get into acting. I played in small roles in theater, TV, movie appearances and commercials. I snuck backstage at a Green Day concert and pretended to be the local radio DJ there to interview the band. After I got the interview I gave the tape to the local station and they hired me that day. That's how I started my radio career.
I grew up listening to Wolfman Jack and knew from the minute I heard him that I wanted to radio in my life! I listened to Dick Clark on the radio, Casey Casem, Rick Dee's, and Rick Chase. I made demo tapes when I was 5 years old and tried to get a local radio station in Boston to hire me...After they made the mistake of passing on me, I decided to continue with my scholastic career and entered Kindergarten. I knew from that first day that school was not my thing. I struggled with a learning disability. It was before teachers and administrators were really aware of those things so I was put in classes where I was made fun of for being dumb. The teachers didn't like me because they thought I was just a slacker. But in reality I didn’t understand anything they were teaching. Because of that I grew to be a bit of an angry bitter kid :) and became a rebel and a street smart preacher’s kid. I got into radio to make people happy. Smile. Have a good time. I wanted to be the one to make them do all those things. I hope you get when I try to do. I know that without you listening then I have nothing. I appreciate you more than you will ever know because you have helped me achieve my dreams!
I have 2 perfect handsome sons and a beautiful daughter who makes me wish I could live to be a million years old so that I could be around them forever. I never knew real love until I had kids and even though they are a lot of work, I love the responsibility of molding them into respectful productive members of society! Some people say you can never have too many friends...I disagree...I think you can definitely have too many friends who crowd your life and take attention away from the important people in your life...Keep it simple I say...AND one more bit of advice...Never wear your underwear OUTSIDE your pants...It's just goofy!
